The role and management of task dates

Updated over a week ago

Both projects and task plural can have a start and end date associated with their records. To record an ongoing project or task, you can leave the end date blank so the system never sees it as being complete. In the same way you can leave the start date blank so that it is active for all time until the end date is reached.

Start and end dates not only provide you with useful information for the management of your projects, but also help keep your Timesheet Portal account cleaner and makes it easier for your workers to locate the project within their timesheet/expense selections, as only active project will be available for browsing. By default, when viewing your projects we will filter out the ones which are inactive, so it keeps your views tidy as well.

You can lock your project start and end dates to always be synchronised to the project start and end dates:
Go to Settings->Projects->Task, and then tick Lock task start and end dates to project dates

To change the start or end dates of a project or task, simply edit the record and change the dates there. Further information can be found the relevant help pages which describe the creation and editing of these records.
