Describes the process for creating/editing client company records

Updated over 7 months ago

You can import a list of project into Timesheet Portal using your own data CSV files. You can create a CSV file directly from Excel or any similar spreadsheet software.

To import project, go to System Management in the left-hand menu, then Import, then click on Tasks. Once your data is uploaded, you must map the Timesheet Portal fields to your own data file fields. The following fields can be uploaded by Timesheet Portal:

Field

Mandatory

Notes

Project Code

Y

Unique code of the project for which the task belongs to

Task Code

Y

Your unique code for this task. When importing, you must always specify a code so that if you import the same records again, the existing records will be updated, rather than duplicated.

Task Description

Y

Short description to identity the task

Start Date

N

The start date of the task

End Date

N

The end date of the task

Rate Codes

Y

A list of mapped rate codes for the task. Please read the description after this table for further info.

Cost centre code

N

The cost centre code for which this task should be assigned to. If the task's project or client is already assigned to a cost centre then this should be left blank.

Budget mode

N

One of the following values:
Task - Budget per entire task
EmployeeTask - Budget per employee per task
None - No budget mode set

The rate codes field allows you to specify what type of rates should be mapped to the task. This should be the same list of rate instances that you would normally tick on the right-hand side of the task edit form. Once your import is complete, you will be notified of how many records have been imported.

Please note: To avoid having duplicate project, it is recommended that you always include the task code field when importing. If a code already exists in the database, the record will just be updated with the latest information in the import file, rather than producing a new record.
