Cost Centres

Describes the usage and configuration of cost centres

Updated over a week ago

Cost centres can be configured along with a cost centre code. Cost centres can either be applied to a Client record or to a project record. If the cost centre is applied to the client record, then all the projects will inherit the cost centre from the client, and you will not be able to change the cost centre assigned to the project.

To configure cost centres, select Cost Centres from the Settings menu.

Cost centres are useful as there are reports which will group by cost centre, so you can instantly report on your total time/pay/charge per cost centre and combinations of cost centre / employee / project.

Cost centres can also be assigned as a Home Cost Centre on an employee record. The only purpose this serves (other than a reportable field) is that it can provide an easy way to assign employees to projects when they have matching cost centres. To enable this automatic assignment, use the setting Allow employee to browse and add project from their home cost centres in the Settings->Timesheets page.
