It is possible to automatically create entries in employee timesheets when a leave booking is approved. These automatically generated entries cannot be modified or removed by the employee, ensuring the timesheet data is always consistent with the leave bookings. The timesheet entry is only created when the employee creates a draft timesheet for the period in which the leave booking occurrs, so you must ensure you are chasing up unsubmitted timesheets to ensure that the leave bookings will always be present in a timesheet.

To turn this feature on, you will need to set it up for each leave category, as we allow you to specify a different task for each category. Additionally, you can configure rules to determine the amount of time that is created for each day in the timesheet. To configure these, go to Settings-> Leave -> Leave Categories. Edit one of your leave categories and select a target task for the time to be logged against in the timesheet.

You must also configure the target rates and multiplication factors. The target rate is the rate code against which the time is logged, and the multiplication factor is the number which the leave booking day is multiplied by to work out the quantity entered in the timesheet. You can configure a different target rate and multiplication factor for hourly leave bookings and daily leave bookings. For example, if you wish are booking leave in days and wish to log the time in the timesheet in hours, you may wish to 7 hours for each day of leave booked. In this case the multiplication factor for the day units of leave is set to 7, and the multiplication factor for hourly leave units is 1.
