How to export your client invoices to Xero sales invoices

Updated over a week ago

This section assumes you have already followed the steps in previous Xero Integration articles to connect your Xero account and configure client invoicing.

Once you are ready to start exporting, you will need a client invoice that is in the Approved state. We do not export Draft invoices. From the Client Invoicing page, tick the invoice(s) you wish to export, and click the Export button on top.

Timesheet Portal will now ask you whether you want to use Xero invoice numbers or attempt to export using the Timesheet Portal number. Most users will use the Xero generated invoice numbers, as this allows you to raise invoices in Xero between Timesheet Portal exports, and avoid conflicts in the invoice numbering scheme by always using the same source for invoice numbers.

Once you have confirmed this step, click Export to begin the process. The Xero export runs as a background job, and an email is sent to the email address of the logged in user, and a user message is posted too. To access your user messages, click on the envelope icon on the top-right of the screen.
