Time of day overtime calculation

Overtime Rules

Updated over a week ago

Time of day overtime rulesets are the simplest type of rules to configure. These rules are based only on the time of day and day of week for which a worker has worked. You can also include conditions for treatment of bank holidays. For more complex rules, for example, paying above a certain number of hours, paying minimum time, etc, please look into custom ruleset. To create a time of day ruleset, go to Settings

, and then click

Overtime Rules

.

Click Create overtime rule group.

Enter your Rule group name

Rule type will be "Time of day".

Enter a timesheet description (this is the name of the main rate which will appear in your timesheet).

Select your entry mode between Start/End and Start/End/Break Start/Break End. This defines how the worker will enter their time into the timesheet. For more accurate recording you should use a break start and break end time to determine the exact hours of the day in which the time has been worked.

Set your default rate, this is the target rate to use for any time that hasn't been allocated against any other rates.

Set your public holiday rate, if required. If public holidays are not required set as none

The next step is to configure your target rates. Target rates are specific rates which will be targeted depending on the time of day and day of week which time has been recorded against. To set these up, selecting the required rate from the target rate drop down menu and click add. You then need to click on the rate name below the grid showing the days of week and hours.

Once a rate is selected, click and drag within the table to create your overtime rule.

Your overtime table should look something like this, once completed

Click Save changes to save your overtime rule

Now that you have created your overtime rule you will need to assign it to your task. To do this go to System > Tasks. Find the task in the list and click the pencil / edit icon to open it. Click on Rates and billing (the second tab at the top) and go to the sixth field down, Overtime. Clicking on this opens a drop-down menu, select the overtime rule you've created, then click Update to save your changes.
